Busy, Busy Week!

Ok so I thought that my week could not get any busier, and to my dismay it has :( Not to mention that I have a full time job, an etsy shop, and a blog. I have just learned that on Monday night we have a boyscout meeting, Tuesday my son has a Cello concert, Wednesday Boy scouts singing at nursing home, Thursday son has lead in Christmas play....he is Santa :) Luckily I have nothing for Friday yet. On Saturday I have a jewelry party at The Posh in Charlotte. I have sold a few items lately and REALLY need time to create more for the party. Lastly, my birthday is on Sunday, not to mention that I am NOT ready for Christmas yet, also did I mention that I work full time and need to sleep? Thank goodness I managed to get my Christmas cards done and mailed out this weekend.

Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful season!

Cheesy Potatoe Soup Recipe

Here is a recipe for a delicious cheesy potatoe soup.

Potato Cheese Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

4 medium large potatoes - I like to use the red ones and leave the peel on
2 1/2 cups petite carrots
1/4 cup green onion, diced
4 tsp better than bouillon chicken or 4 bouillon cubes
2 tsp white vinegar
1 1/4 cups milk
6 Tbsp flour
3/4 cup shredded jack cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
6 slices pre-cooked bacon

Instructions:

•Wash and cut potatoes into bite-sized pieces (peeling is optional).
•Dice green onions and bacon.
•Put 5 cups water and first 5 ingredients in large saucepan: bring to a boil, and cover and simmer 7-10 minutes.
•Whisk flour and milk together and add to saucepan with vegetables.
•Bring to a boil and cook (simmering and stirring bottom occasionally to avoid scorching) 15 minutes.
•Add cheese and bacon for some yummy cheesy soup!

Homemade Wine....YUM!

Ok so a friend brought over some wine that he and his wife make. Very cool bottles...pretty neat. The two flavors are Calypso and Green Apple Riesling. I tried the Green Apple Riesling last night and it was so good. Hope to finish off that bottle tonight and start on the other one soon. Will update when I have the results of the Calypso which is supposed to be like a tropical Riesling. Cant wait!

Dog Surgery

My dog had surgery yesterday. He had scratched his ear and busted a couple of blood vessels on his ear flap which resulted in a rather large pocket of blood and stuff. He went to the vet and got a drainage tube put in and micro-chipped. He is doing somewhat better. Took quite a long time for the pain meds to wear off though. They also cut his nails while he was under. We do not cut his nails because it is very painful for him. So his ear is hurting, his nails, and his back from the chip. Hopefully he will be back to normal soon.

Wickedly Chic Blog Feature.....AWESOME!

My earrings were featured on Wickedly Chic. So awesome. You can check it out here.

http://www.wickedlychic.com/787/indies-of-the-week-jac-jewelrymrs-fat-face-november-13-2008

Well…that’s not it for jewelry this week. With a shop name like Mrsfatface, you just have to go and check out the wares. Stephanie Speers is the owner and I giggle every time that I say the name. I think it’s because my dad was called fathead when he was a kid…way back in the day. I’m not sure why he was called fathead either. He was a skinny little kid. With a doll named Margaret. Just so you know.

Anyway….back to shopping. Mrsfatface has some beautiful jewelry items along with some very spiffy artwork. The earrings pictured here are called Cherry Bomb and are made with ruby jade & sterling silver. No one will be boring when wearing these on their lobes. AND there’s a matching necklace…in case you feel that you need a set.

There are many pretty pieces in this shop & it’s hard to narrow it down. Bargain hunters will want to note that there are a number of items in the clearance section…all less than $22.00….which means that you can get more than one thing.
Fill up your jewelry box (or the jewelry box of a loved one) this holiday season…make Mrsfatface one of your stops on the road to gift buying.

Awesome Find!

So I was browsing around this sort-of consignment shop and found this fabulous set of dishes. I am hoping they are depression glass (not quite sure how to tell) but will love them just the same if not. This is a 6 piece Snack Set (that is what it was labeled) and comes with six plates and six little mugs. These are gorgeous clear green glass and actually quite heavy. I have never seen a set like this. There is a little indented area on the plate to hold your mug. So if you are at a little party and having appetizers and punch these would be perfect! We all know how hard it is to eat and hold your drin! ! k at the same time if not sitting! No chips, cracks or anything. I really love these and the price was a steal. I have a small china collection that started with Wedgewood china. Still waiting for the nice china cabinet to display them all in though.

Love this!

I know Halloween is almost here but this card is to fabulous to pass up. You can check this out and other GREAT items here http://www.thewildhare.etsy.com/ !

Looking for answers....

Ok Ladies, I have a couple of questions for you. Hopefully you will take the time to respond. I would really love to know the sizes you normally buy in jewelry. So if you could comment and answer the following I would really appreciate it.

1. What size necklace do you wear/buy?

2. What size bracelet do you wear/buy?

This information would be very helpful to me.

Thanks,

Mrsfatface

National Mental Health Day

Have a fabulous STRESS FREE day!!!! PLEASE DO YOUR PART Today is one of the many National Mental Health Days throughout the year.
You can do your bit by remembering to send this to at least one unstable person.
My job is done!Life is too short for drama & petty things.
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

From one unstable person to another... I hope everyone is happy in your head - we're all doin' pretty good in mine.

Love me some BOOTS!

I absolutely love these!

Just wanted to let everyone know that DSW (http://www.dsw.com/) has a fairly new website and some hot shoes. They are having a Boot Sale right now. Check it out!

People are so AMAZING!

I have to say that more and more people just amaze me....and it is not good. Last night we had our Obama '08 sign stolen out of our yard. I have to admit that I thought this may happen, but people seriously why would you take it?? We do have a right to display it and no we are not forcing our opinons on others. I see McCain/Palin signs all the time. Heck our neighbors have all kinds of signs in there yards right now for our local politicans. I just want to say that I am extremely disappointed and with that I think I will stop by and get 3 more signs!

Rollerskating Weekend FUN!

Ok, just a little note. I took my two kids rollerskating this weekend. They are 9 and 5. This was there first time skating and they did fabulous. I thought they were going to be on the floor MOST of the time and boy was I wrong. I was really proud how well they did. On another note, I skated as well. I forgot how much FUN it is. When I was younger I went skating every Friday and Saturday night. What great exercise. My shins were killing me after two times around!

I've been TAGGED!!

So I have been tagged by Kimberly of http://www.thewildhare.etsy.com/ She has a fabulous store on Etsy. She creates beautiful cards and some really cool felted crafts.

The rules when you are tagged are quite specific. You must share six facts about yourself that most people don't know! I will be looking for all you tagged folks to respond, so here we go. Ready or not, here are six things about me that may or may not be interesting, but they are facts nonetheless:

♦I love to read. My husband often dislikes this because I become so consumed by a book that I just can not put it down. I am not reading anything currently as I have read everything in my small library and frankly have not had time as of late.

♦I am an EXCELLENT sales person. I can pretty much sale you anything. I guess this is from years working in retail. I have excellent customer service and well I am very well mannered ( you may not always notice this, nor may I always show this) which actually does MOST of the work for you.

♦I LIKE Hip Hop music. Don’t know what it is, but that has been my music of choice since I was about 12. Now I also like alternative, rock, blues, pretty much everything, but I prefer Hip Hop. Maybe it’s the beat, that’s makes you want to get up and move.

♦My dream job is to work for the FBI. Again, something from childhood. This has been an interest for quite some time. You plan things and think that is how your life is going to work out or hope, and it changes along the way. I like my changes though, I know that I am no where near where I want to be with my life as far as career and such, but I am HAPPY and that means a lot right now!

♦I actually enjoy the Elderly. There is just something about them. I love to sit and listen to all they have to say. So many life lessons and experience. I could sit and talk for hours.

♦I can not stand WHITE NOISE. Oh boy, and I mean I really can not stand it. I classify this as the fan in the bathroom…it kills me if someone leaves it on. The dryer, vacuum, hair dryer, any and all bothers the heck out of me. Not sure why and I know that this soothes some people, but not me.

Lastly, I am a TALKER. I mean really I CAN and WILL talk for hours. I have passed this on to my two children and now they can, will, and do talk for hours and ask billions of questions.

Two Guys Pretend To Make-Out Behind CNN Reporter During This Mornings Broadcast

This was two guys from Howard Stern.

Things Happening

Ok some things going on in my life.....I will be posting about soon. For one I got a new car. I pick it up tomorrow. Started a new diet....its okay except at night and oatmeal seriously just lacks any flavor. I am trying hard to find more time to create. I have my first Jewelry Party coming up on 10/18/08 and I am so very excited and scared all at the same time. I am working hard on new pieces and my presentation. I will be posting more about these in the days to come. Thought I would include a little tidbit from my kids.

Asa has a friend over and they like to play the Xbox and webkinz. They play with Jaya the little sister a little bit. She does not have a friend over. She is bopping the boys with her Barbies while they are playing Xbox and overall just giving them hell. Asa tells her to go play by herself. She responds with, “I don't have any friends over or anyone to play with. I don't want to go play by myself. You just like playing by yourself because you are a WEIRDO"! Now I was in the bathroom which has a door to my son's room doing laundry when I heard this and honestly it just cracked me up. I could not help laughing out loud.

Stress Management

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water? Answers called out ranged from 20g. to 500g.The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.

"Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker.

If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

If you lend someone $20 & never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply, be kind to others.

Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.

The second mouse gets the cheese.

When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Dieting

I just wanted to add that DIETING is HELL!! Seriously. Yes, I really do want that cookie. My Dad was telling my son the old saying "A minute on your lips, an eternity on your hips". I made sure to add my two cents of "You only live once". Probably not the best advice but hey chocolate chip cookies are that good.

Back to School

Well now I officially have 2 kids in school. This is kind of sad for me because I can remember when Asa started kindergarten and now he is a big boy in 4th grade. I can not believe my little Jaya is now in kindergarten. They grow up so fast. I am not too worried about her though, she is tiny but boy does she have spunk! I feel so proud to have such wonderful smart kids. Asa was just elected to Student Council for the second year in a row. He had to give a little speech, this is what he said "I am a great historian and I am very funny. I already have experience on the Student Council. This is why I think you should vote for me." Such a good boy! Jaya was asked by the principal what she wanted to learn in school this year, she replied with "I want to learn how to drive". Hopefully that will not happen! This is just the beginning of the year so I am sure that will be more funnies. Thanks to my great kids for all the wonderful times.
